This exhibition presents the work of 31 artists from the Royal Drawing School’s postgraduate-level program, The Drawing Year. Over the past year, we’ve engaged deeply with drawing as a method of close observation and inquiry, challenging our assumptions and expanding our practices.
Our focus on observational drawing—in the studio, on city streets, and within museums—has sharpened our visual skills and enriched our understanding of form. This foundational practice seeps into all our work, influencing mediums from painting to digital art and shaping how we connect with the world.
Hosted at SPACE studios, the 2024 Studio Show is a snapshot of this collective journey. We invite you to explore the diverse insights and possibilities that emerge from our shared commitment to drawing. This show is running in conjunction with The Drawing Year 2024 End of Year Exhibiton of Drawings and works on paper, held at the school’s gallery in Shoreditch. These studios have been the heart of our year. Below are a few snapshots of us at work (it hasn’t always been this tidy!).
As part of the Drawing Year, we’ve had incredible opportunities, including a collaborative mural project in West London. Take a look at our work and see how it has merged with other street art in the area.
